Overlockers & Coverstitch Machines

Which serger to choose? The serger is an ideal complement to the sewing machine for those who sew a lot. It is the only one that can overlock edges as perfectly as those of store-bought clothes. Additionally, it assembles the edges with a seam, trims the excess, and overlocks in a single operation. Overlock seams being stretchable, they are particularly recommended for stretch and elastic fabrics.

We also offer coverstitch machine models. These machines allow you to create a hem with a professional finish using a single coverstitch. If you have a tight budget and/or lack space in your sewing area, we recommend the combined serger and coverstitch models.

What does 2, 3, 4, 5 threads mean?
A serger allows you to make an overlock stitch (3 or 4 threads for more strength). Some sergers also have what is called 2 threads (one needle is removed from the machine so that only the lower looper works and the knife is disengaged). This way, you can create rolled hems for a perfect finish on fluid or delicate materials that wouldn't support a hem. Finally, 5 threads are reserved for sergers that also function as coverstitch machines.
